Buddy - Special Request

If you have an existing relationship with a guest and you BOTH prefer to be matched together for Shine Prom, please put the guest name in the buddy section when you register.  We will attempt to accommodate all buddy requests.  Guests MUST register themselves separately and they MUST put their preferred buddy name on their registration form so they can be matched.

Age Requirement

Dream Team members must be at least 13 years old by the date of the prom which is also the minimum age for our guests. If you're 13 - 15, a parent/guardian must stay with you for the duration of the time slot you're serving.  

If you're serving with a group, the adult leading your group is required to register and serve with your group as well as agree to be responsible for the group.  Any parent/guardian is also encouraged to serve with their child and must register separately.

Since community has shown amazing interest in Shine Prom, we anticipate that we’ll have a waiting list for guests and volunteers who want to attend. If you’re unable to serve, it’s very important to let us know as far in advance as possible.  Log in to your SignUp.com account and cancel your reserved spot.

Limited Space

Due to limited space and fire code constraints, please don’t allow friends to show up with you to serve.  For the safety of our guests and volunteers, ONLY registered guests, caregivers and volunteers will be allowed to enter.  We’ll have nametags for all volunteers that must be worn for the duration of the evening.


We have specific parking areas reserved for volunteers.  Please review our parking map here:


You're more than welcome to wear prom appropriate attire (evening dresses/gowns or suits/tuxedos) but please feel free to wear casual clothes -- whatever is most comfortable to you!

Men, if you desire to rent a partial or full tuxedo, please visit Gabrielle’s Formals & Events.


You’re welcomed to take your own photos.  A team of professional photographers affiliated with Cameragraphics also will be taking photos the entire evening.  Photos will be uploaded to the Cameragraphics link on our website no later than Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 6pm.  Photos can be downloaded for free. A photography release is included in our required waiver.

Buddy Training - Mandatory

If you desire to serve as a buddy, and this is your 1st time ever  serving as a buddy, you must attend ONE of the REQUIRED training sessions at the 
Opelika SportsPlex, 1001 Andrews Road, Opelika, AL 36801: 

            Thursday, 10/10, 7-7:45 pm
            Sunday, 10/13, 5-5:45 pm

If you’re unable to attend one of these sessions, please don’t register to be a buddy.  If you register as a buddy but don’t attend one session, you will be removed from the buddy list and moved to the Red Carpet Welcome team.​ If you live outside of the area, please make special arrangements PRIOR to training dates by emailing:
